What Do We Do?
The MECCA Services organization was created to serve the less fortunate citizens of the world, starting with our local citizens of Detroit. Currently our service area is the 2 mile radius that surrounds our main office at Woodrow Wilson & W. Davison on Detroit's west side.
In addition, MECCA aids in an annual one day event, The Day of Dignity (Humanitarian Day), which targets Detroit's homeless population, providing food, clothing, hygiene packages, toys, books, and a health screenings.
Other services MECCA provides are:
Soup Kitchen/ Food Pantry
Free lunch for The Muslim Center's Saturday School classes
Space for Narcotics Anonymous Meetings
Youth Recreation Facilities
Referral Information for Social Services
Summer Family Camp 2010
and in the near future Scholarship Resources!
Why Do We Do What We Do?
MECCA Services and the people who support MECCA do what we do because, to improve humanity is pleasing to our Lord. Acts of charity and compassion improve ones own soul and makes for a greater awareness as to your own importance in this world. It may be difficult to lift everyone out of poverty, but it is not so difficult to try. Our efforts are not for public acknowledgment or fortune, but simply to improve the wellbeing of mankind.
